  Open-Source GIS Administrator
 
The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission seeks candidates for the position of Open-Source GIS Administrator. Champaign County RPC is a people-focused agency made up of over 100 programs designed to generate possibilities for all within our community. The Open-Source GIS Administrator maintains and administers desktop and server-based GIS systems, supports mapping and analysis work, and coordinates field data collection. This position will ensure delivery of assigned duties and program services in accordance with the Agency Vision, Mission, and Values and applicable program contracts, manuals, and guidelines.
 
Job Responsibilities:
 

Administer an enterprise PostgreSQL/PostGIS database, including management of schema, tables, views, and users.

Provide training and support to desktop QGIS users.

Support spatial data analysis by developing scripts, queries, and other analysis tools.

Develop and maintain QGIS Python plugins.

Create and monitor standards for data management and metadata.

Provide access to spatial data to partner agencies and members of the public.

Coordinate field data collection activities.

 
Required Qualifications:
 

A four-year degree in GIS, geography, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Ability to work independently to solve technical problems

Knowledge of GIS concepts and spatial data formats

Advanced database management and SQL skills

Intermediate QGIS and Python skills

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

 
 
Hours:  8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., (37.5 hours per week) Flexibility is necessary to meet the needs of the program.

Pay Grade: 6
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Starting Wage:  $29.80 - $33.52 (DOQ)
