Under general supervision, performs complex GIS tasks utilizing skills and technicial expertise to maintain geographic, asset, and work management systems for the City.  This is a full-time position with significant responsibilities and work expectations.  We are open to discussing various work environment scenarios including onsite and some regular remote work from within the United States.

Salary - New Hire Range (min qual): $48,300 to $54,300 (midpoint: $60,374) DOQ

Essential Duties

Duties include (but are not limited to): assist related professionals in building, maintaining, modifying, or using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database; serve as a Geodatabase data steward; proficient use with a multiple-user versioned editing environment such as ArcSDE versions; perform custom application development; provide user support including training, managing, and troubleshooting various software and technologies; provide ongoing support to mapping City assets and facilities while maintaining GIS related data relevant to all City operations; collect and maintain data related to engineering, new construction and maintenance of City assets; perform day to day maintenance of related systems; maintain and create Web Map services and web map applications; be a part of the on call, after-hours rotation for IT help desk and database maintenance; serve in the GIS Coordinator's role as requested; other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Requires

Bachelor’s BS or BA degree or Master’s MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university in geography, GIS, computer science, or related field; or five (5) years related experience and/or training.

Other equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Considerable knowledge of Python scripting, JavaScript, and other software referenced herein.

GIS desktop and data collection software products from ESRI and an understanding of cartographic mapping concepts and geodatabase design, ArcGIS Server, City Works Desktop, Microsoft SQL Server, ArcGIS Desktop model building and python scripting, and other GIS, asset, and work management software packages.

Knowledge of advanced GIS techniques for spatial relationship classes, custom SQL queries, and relationship classes is important.

Familiarity with sanitary sewer systems, water utility, and roads maintenance preferred.

Software and maps such as: Microsoft Office products, ESRI ArcGIS software, ESRI map suites, ESRI ArcGIS Online, Esri ArcGIS Explorer Online, and Esri data collection software for GPS integrated field data collection; coordinate geometry COGO software, Geostatistical Analyst, ESRI ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, 3D analyst, Landmark Graphics.

Familiarity with other Open Source GIS platforms and task solutions is beneficial.

A valid drivers license (in good standing as required by the City’s insurance) and adequate transportation which allows the ability to travel around the City;

Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with people and communicate well verbally and in writing;

Ability to walk, stand, sit, traverse rough terrain on foot, climb stairs, lift, pick-up and carry objects/equipment (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
