Job Title: GIS Intern

Location: Portland, OR or Remote

Duration: 12 weeks from start

Expected Start Date: May 2021

Overview:

The Freshwater Trust, a non-profit leader in stream and river restoration, is seeking a Geographic Information Systems intern who has experience using ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro and who is interested in the organization’s mission to fix and restore freshwater ecosystems. The intern will assist The Freshwater Trust’s Science and Analytics staff with data creation and research and development of new tools.

Position Responsibilities:

• Assist with geospatial data creation (digitize agricultural areas and hydrologic features) for restoration scenario simulations

• Assist with geospatial data management and archiving • Perform data verification and quality control

• Other tasks as assigned

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

• A undergraduate or graduate student working towards a degree in geography, GIS, computer science, hydrology, earth science, environmental science, botany, or related field.

• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks while maintaining a high attention to detail.

• Strong work ethic and good organizational skills. • Ability to work independently.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with Arc Desktop/Arc Pro (we can install a license on your computer temporarily if needed)

• Familiarity with remotely sensed data (aerial imagery, multispectral imagery, LiDAR, visual SFM, etc.)

• Ability to perform basic data analysis and reporting

Position Type/Hours: Fixed-duration (3 months); approximately 32-40 hours/week (flexible)

Compensation: • $16 per hour
