Position Summary:

Key Accountablilities:

Provide geospatial services to USAID/OFDA in the form of maps and graphics, geospatial analysis, and technical team projects.
Communicate the geographic operating picture of OFDA’s humanitarian work through the acquisition, production, and provision of geo-spatial data and cartography.
Collaborate closely with OFDA and with peers in U.S Government agencies, the humanitarian community, academic, and private sectors.
Essential Functions:

Responsible for providing mapping support to an OFDA regional team. Identify geospatial requirements for the region and develop plans and products to satisfy those requirements. 
Assist in establishing data management and data acquisition systems for map production.
Support cartographic production and backstop team.
Contribute to OFDA training courses, as applicable.
Other duties as required.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Information Technology or similar discipline required.

Experience: 1-2 years providing GIS support to OFDA or other federal agencies or related organizations, including internships. 

Skills: 

Required: 

Extensive knowledge of geospatial data from a wide array of sources. Expertise in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), cartographic design, image processing, graphic editing, relational databases, metadata standards, and standard office applications. Familiarity with Google Earth and creating and manipulating kml and kmz files. 
GIS application development experience a plus. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite desirable.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
Position requires the ability to work in high pressure situations occasionally exceeding normal business hours with the potential for domestic and overseas travel. 
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work independently or in a team environment. 
Preferred: International experience and foreign language skills are preferred.

U.S. Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored security clearance.
