Description of Duties/Essential Functions  

Under direct supervision of the Voluntary Site Remediation (VSR) B Unit Manager, Remedial Project Management Section (RPMS), in the Bureau of Land (BOL), performs beginning level professional duties related to routine scientific surveillance activities of the Site Remediation Program (SRP). Observes, participates and assists higher level specialists in drawing conclusions for recommendations of changes in operations to the supervisor regarding technical standards of SRP projects; assists higher level specialists with SRP projects to ensure timely completion in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, and to the prescribed environmental goals of the SRP. Under close review of the Unit Manager, develops and prepares technical reports of the SRP projects; attends and participates in staff meetings, conferences, seminars, training sessions, and public meetings.

 Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with coursework in physical, life, or environmental science. Requires one year of professional experience in the field of pollution abatement or a related field.

Specific Job Requirements: Requires ability to complete and maintain current HAZWOPER 24-hour training. Hearing and eyesight must be good or correctable for responding to emergency field conditions. Requires a valid Illinois driver's license for ability to operate a motor vehicle when driving to site locations to conduct investigations, attend meetings, and assess oversight activities that require occasional overnight trips.
