Joseph Szertics (1925-2016)

Joseph SzerticsJoseph Szertics, a longtime resident of Iowa City, died on September 15, 2016 surrounded by his family. 

Joseph was born in Hungary on May 6, 1925. He came to the US in 1962, first as a Professor of Spanish at University of Buffalo, New York, then in Bowling Green, Ohio and finally he became Professor Emeritus of Spanish Literature at University of Iowa where he taught for over 30 years.

Joseph is survived by his daughter Claire and three grandchildren Tom (age 20), Gabrielle (age 20) and Lucy (age 13) who live in France.

The family would like to thank the Oaknoll Residence and their staff as well as Dr. Richard Larew for their care and support.
