Institutional Branding

The CLAS Strategic Communications team is a proud partner with the UI Office of Strategic Communication in advancing the university's institutional branding strategy.

CLAS is at the heart of the University of Iowa:

  • As Iowa's primary undergraduate college, and with one-third of UI graduate students studying in our departments, CLAS is central to the university's educational mission and strategic prioritiesf.
  • CLAS is also essential to the UI's research mission. Our scientists receive tens of millions of dollars each year in support from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, NASA, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and other federal agencies, and contribute significantly to Iowa's neuroscience and health sciences enterprises. Our humanities scholars and artists regularly earn prestigious fellowships and support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, from foundations such as the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, American Council of Learned Societies, and the Guggenheim Foundation, and at universities such as Stanford, Yale, and Harvard. 
  • CLAS is home to some of the university's most-prized programs, such as the Iowa Writers' Workshop and the UI's other academic writing programs, and our famed space-exploration program. Our speech and hearing science program, which created the field of speech-language pathology, is considered the international gold standard both in that field and audiology.

Visual Branding

CLAS Strategic Communications follows the UI's visual branding guidelines.

The UI's Brand Manual is the definitive source for visual branding guidelines and rules. It contains instructions for obtaining and using approved logos, guidelines for using branding on promotional "swag," and working with fonts, graphics, and imagery.

The Brand Manual also contains many branded templates for everything from name tags and table tents to PowerPoint presentations and letterhead. Use of these free, downloadable templates ensures compliance with UI branding rules.
