Graduate Admission Requirements

The deadline for fall admission applications is January 15. The department does not accept applications for the spring.

Only complete applications will be given full consideration. Complete applications consist of:

  • A completed application form and fee
  • A written statement of purpose
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • Supplemental Information Form

International students must also take the TOEFL exam.

Applicants should take TOEFL (where required) examination and have the score sent to us before January 15 to ensure timely consideration of their application.

We recommend that you complete field camp before you begin our graduate program.

Minimum Requirements for Admission

  • Applicants for admission must hold a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association.
  • A 3.0 GPA. The GPA is computed on undergraduate plus graduate work if the student has completed less than 12 semester hours (s.h.) of graduate work; it is computed on graduate work if a student has earned 12 or more hours of graduate credit at the time of admission. Conditional admission may be considered for those with a GPA below 3.0.
