This year the UI Newberry Renaissance Consortium committee is offering two Judith Popovich Aikin Awards of $1500 each for extended study in Medieval, Renaissance and Early Modern Studies. Work may take place at the Newberry Library in Chicago or the Folger Library in Washington, D.C. Faculty, graduate students are eligible for these awards. Staff whose scholarly work would be augmented by an extended visit to the Newberry may be eligible, and should contact Professor Ketterer.

 Applications are due no later than 5 PM on November 30, 2018. There is no special application form, but the Newberry Committee asks interested scholars to include in their application the following:

  • a short CV (no more than two pages)
  • a statement of purpose for the research trip, containing a brief description of the project and specifying resources to be consulted
  • a budget for the proposed trip(s)
  • proposed travel dates

Inquiries should be addressed to the chair of the Newberry Committee, Robert Ketterer (robert-ketterer@uiowa.edu). Complete application materials should be submitted as e-mail attachments to Professor Ketterer by 5 p.m. on the due date. Recipients will be asked to file a report on their work at the conclusion of their Newberry or Folger visits.
