INNOVATION CHALLENGE Deadline October 28 to win seed funding for your innovation!

The Innovation Challenge will award $225,000 in total funding during the 2021-2022 academic year across the University of Iowa's campus. The Challenge is a university-wide competition with the goal to identify, advance and support the most innovative and entrepreneurial projects on campus.

We are currently accepting applications for the first phase of the Challenge, the Elevator Pitch Competition, that will be held this fall and will award $75,000 in seed funding. The second phase will be a Business Model Competition held in spring 2022 and will award $150,000 in additional funding.

A pitch workshop will be held on Friday, October 22 from 11:30-12:20pm at the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory (BELL), 322 N Clinton St.  Please email jan-finlayson@uiowa.edu to sign up.  This will help applicants understand what is required and help them prepare.  Additional coaching sessions will be available as needed.

• Graduate students
• Undergraduate students
• Incubator startups (participating in the UI’s Research Park, or active alumni members receiving support from the UI Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory)

• 3-minute pitch with 5 minutes of Q&A live with judges
• $75,000 in funding

Winners and award amounts will be announced November 17 at a reception at MERGE from 5:00-7:00pm.
