Provost Curry has issued a call for proposals for the Provost Investment Fund (PIF) program.  Investment fund proposals must be submitted by the DEO to the College (dian-gottlob@uiowa.edu) no later than 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018.  Submissions will be reviewed by the CLAS Executive Committee and Dean Kearney.  Provost Curry will make funding decisions by February 1, 2019.

The program will provide non-recurring general fund dollars to support new academic or accelerate existing academic initiatives.  These initiatives should be innovative, aspirational and linked to the AAU metrics and/or UI strategic plan.  Proposals that are interdisciplinary will receive priority.  Interdisciplinary is defined as a collaboration among at least three colleges, between two colleges and a central unit, or between two colleges that includes cross-departmental collaboration.  Funding can be requested to cover expenses for up to 3 years to a maximum amount of $300,000 (~$100k per year).  The initiative is expected to be sustainable through the generation of new resources or reallocation of other resources after the start-up period.  Annual reporting of specific measureable benchmarks is required through the funding period to monitor progress and ensure success.
