Please see the following message from Tanya Uden-Holman, Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the University College and Administrative Liaison for the Council on Teaching:

The Council on Teaching seeks applications for the Fall 2022 Teaching in Higher Education Conference Award. Please forward this information to faculty and/or staff in your department who may wish to apply for the award.

The focus of this award is for faculty and staff to gain a better understanding of teaching in their discipline or trends in higher education in general (e.g., curriculum design, course design and delivery, pedagogical good practice, or assessment of learning) and then apply this new information to enhance teaching effectiveness at the University of Iowa.  The funds may be used for in-person or virtual conference registration costs and/or travel.

NOTE:  the award is not intended to provide conference/travel funds to those who plan to attend conferences/annual meetings with the primary goal of acquiring information about research advances in their disciplines to be incorporated into their teaching at the University of Iowa.

The Council on Teaching will review applications, not as they are received, but following this submission deadline based on the date of the conference and/or travel:

  • Fall 2022 (September-December conference/travel) submit applications by August 4, 2022
  • Spring 2023 (January-May conference/travel) submit applications by December 1, 2022
  • Summer 2023 (June-August conference/travel) submit applications by April 6, 2023
  • Fall 2023 (September–December conference/travel) submit applications by August 3, 2023
