The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Graduate College, and International Programs are sponsoring a Grant and Fellowship Writing Seminar for PhD, MFA, and DMA students in the Humanities, Arts, and the Social Sciences from 17-28 May 2021. PhD students in the natural and mathematical sciences who are pursuing the Fulbright or grants for humanistic research are also invited to apply. The seminar will meet virtually each morning via Zoom and be led jointly by 2 members of the CLAS Graduate Faculty in the Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences who have been active in coaching external grant applications of graduate students. Participants will be selected through an application process administered by the CLAS Dean’s office and will receive a participant stipend of $250 from the Graduate College upon completion of the seminar. Candidates must have identified prestigious external grants and fellowships for which they intend to apply for in the upcoming cycle of summer and fall 2021 and must commit to participating in the Graduate College Fellowship Initiative in preparing their grant for final submission. In addition, the faculty advisor of each participant must be available via electronic communication during the seminar period to read and comment on drafts of their advisee’s proposals.

Eligible students should complete the application form and return it to allison-bierman@uiowa.edu with the subject line: Grant and Fellowship Writing Seminar 2021. The deadline for applications is 6 April 2021.
