I am writing to call for proposals for the CLAS Outstanding Outreach and Public Engagement Award.

Nominations consist of a single letter of up to two pages, due Monday, April 3. The CLAS Executive Committee will review all nominations and select the recipient. The award will be recognized at the Faculty Honors Celebration in April.

This award honors a CLAS faculty member who has engaged in activities that bring the University to broader communities in significant and sustained ways. To nominate a colleague, submit a letter of nomination describing the outreach activities, the community served, and the impact of the activity. Please submit nominations to Dian Gottlob (dian-gottlob@uiowa.edu) on or before April 3.

Examples of such activities include developing and implementing service learning in a course or courses, scholarly work that engages a wider community, teaching in non-traditional settings, and other endeavors in which the expertise and talents of faculty and staff in CLAS reach local, regional, or broader communities.

Faculty with appointments of 50% or more in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at The University of Iowa are eligible for the Outreach and Public Engagement Award, which includes monetary recognition.

I strongly encourage you to nominate your colleagues for this award!
