Many thanks to all of you who have completed your fall textbook orders and have updated the Offerings Planner textbook fields to reflect these orders or any related exceptions.

We know this takes time, and we appreciate all of your work on the behalf of our students. Students tell us that buying their books early makes a difference, encouraging their commitment to learning and their continued enrollment in a course.

As a reminder, all textbooks should be ordered by the first day of the semester’s Early Registration (ER) period (unless the course qualifies for an exception). This is a campus-wide policy; compliance is required by the Higher Education Opportunity Act.*

  • Early Registration for Fall 2018 is now over.
  • Textbooks not yet ordered for the Fall 2018 semester must be ordered immediately.
  • Textbook orders for Spring 2019 are due on November 5, 2018, the first day of ER for Spring 2019. Please submit orders before this date, if at all feasible.

A MAUI textbook report shows compliance or non-compliance rates by department and program: https://www.maui.uiowa.edu/maui/registrar/courses/planner/dashboard.page

An exception may be made to the deadline in the following circumstances:

  1. If an instructor has not yet been hired
  2. If the instructor has not yet been assigned to a course
  3. If the course is new and still under development
  4. If the textbook is new and still under development

Again, thank you for your help.
