I am writing to call for proposals for the CLAS Outstanding Outreach and Public Engagement Award.

Nominations consist of a single letter of up to two pages, due prior to Monday, March 15, 2021. The CLAS Executive Committee will review all nominations and select the recipient.

This award honors a CLAS faculty member who has engaged in activities that bring the University to broader communities in significant and sustained ways. To nominate a colleague, submit a letter of nomination describing the outreach activities, the community served, and the impact of the activity. Please submit nominations to Allison Bierman (allison-bierman@uiowa.edu) prior to March 15, 2021.

Examples of such activities include developing and implementing service learning in a course or courses, scholarly work that engages a wider community, teaching in non-traditional settings, and other endeavors in which the expertise and talents of faculty and staff in CLAS reach local, regional, or broader communities. Faculty with appointments of 50% or more in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at The University of Iowa are eligible for the Outreach and Public Engagement Award, which includes monetary recognition.

I strongly encourage you to nominate your colleagues for this award!
