Please encourage faculty and staff in your unit to uphold CLAS’s strong tradition of faculty and staff governance by participating in the nomination processes for service on CLAS governance bodies.

These nomination processes are the only ways that candidates can be designated. Nominations are confidential and must be accepted by the nominated individual. Elections are conducted electronically on secure websites.

All faculty and staff have opportunities to serve on elected collegiate governance bodies. Faculty and staff who identify as a member of an underrepresented minority group are encouraged to run for these positions.

The elected faculty governance bodies in CLAS include:

Tenure-track and clinical-track faculty: From Wednesday, February 3, through Wednesday, February 10, tenure-track and clinical-track faculty may nominate themselves or colleagues for election to the faculty governance bodies listed above for which they qualify.

Instructional-track faculty: From Wednesday, February 3, through Wednesday, February 10, instructional-track faculty may nominate themselves or colleagues to:

  • CLAS Undergraduate Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee
  • CLAS Faculty Assembly

Instructional-track faculty may also nominate tenure-track and clinical-track faculty for election to any of the faculty governance bodies listed above for which they qualify.

Staff members: From Wednesday, February 3, through Wednesday, February 10, CLAS staff members may nominate themselves or colleagues for election to the CLAS Staff Council

Information on where faculty and staff may cast ballots will be posted on the CLAS website home page and distributed through email as soon as possible after 8:00 AM on Wednesday, February 3.

Further information on the committees may be found in the CLAS Manual of Policy and Procedure.
