Catalog copy is due at the Registrar’s Office on Monday, February 7, 2022, using the online Content Management System.

  • Please submit your catalog copy as soon as possible since additional offices on the workflow path must approve the copy, including CLAS, before the Catalog’s publication.
  • Questions about this due date may be addressed to the Registrar by contacting Jan Brunstein, jan-brunstein@uiowa.edu, 335-0222, or Teresa Watson, teresa-watson@uiowa.edu.

UNDERGRADUATE INFORMATION

Please keep in mind that significant changes made in the Catalog to the requirements of an existing undergraduate major, minor, or certificate must have approval from the College (i.e. UEPCC). Significant changes include the addition of tracks or changes in their titles, changes in core or fundamental requirements, the addition of a significant number of credit hours, and related matters.  Any new program of study included in the Catalog must also have prior approval from the College, the Provost, and the Board of Regents.

The undergraduate degree audit is annually updated based on the changes made in the Catalog after CLAS has approved the materials.

  • These changes become effective for students who declare the program of study during the fall semester and onward.
  • Entering students who have declared a major during the UI admission process are held to the requirements in place when the major was declared.
  • It is generally best to update websites after spring Early Registration and as soon as the Catalog is published.

Sample Plan of Study: Sample plans may appear in Catalog workflow pages as added text in green, but sample plans will not appear in the published Catalog until a program’s pages are completed by the department and the sample plan team can confirm a plan will match 2022-23 Catalog requirements. If you have any curriculum changes, an advisor or coordinator associated with your program can review and update the sample plan in MAUI to ensure timely inclusion. You can contact the sample plan team by email at REG-Sample-Plans@uiowa.edu.

If you have questions about the Catalog or related undergraduate curricular changes, please contact Jennifer Eimers (jennifer-eimers@uiowa.edu).

GRADUATE INFORMATION

Please keep in mind that significant changes made in the Catalog to the requirements of an existing graduate degree or certificate must have been approved by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Graduate College prior to their inclusion. Significant changes include the addition or modification of tracks; changes to names of tracks, degrees, or certificates; changes in core or fundamental requirements; the addition of credit hours; changes in the mode of delivery; and other related matters.

Before making significant graduate curricular changes, please contact Associate Dean Christine Getz.
