Each year, the General Education Curriculum Committee conducts an assessment of one General Education area requirement, such as the Social Sciences or Values, Society, and Diversity.

Next fall, we will be concentrating on the World Languages GE area.

Assessment will involve analysis of student achievement of the learning outcomes by those teaching and/or supervising the GE sequences in World Languages offered by CLAS.

At the same time, we will be looking at the GE outcomes for World Languages and will consider revising them based on the group’s input since it has been a number of years since these were last rewritten. The current outcomes for the GE areas may be found on this page.

We will be inviting DEOs and others to attend a meeting this spring to discuss this assessment project and to brainstorm best possible ways of moving forward. If you are unable to attend, it is very important to delegate another faculty member to attend for you.

Thank you for your interest in this matter.
