The drop deadline for semester-length courses for UI undergraduates has been moved to Friday, May 7 at 4:30 p.m., Central Daylight Time (CDT), the last day of Spring 2021 classes.

This is also the deadline for UI undergraduates to withdraw from the semester without a dean’s permission.

  • This deadline affects all undergraduate students regardless of college and has been created to give students additional time to drop courses or to withdraw from a semester  because of the pandemic and related extenuating circumstances.
  • The drop deadlines for off-cycle courses are not affected by this change.

Please note these additional details for undergraduates dropping semester-length courses:

  • Students must obtain all required authorizations (e.g., from advisors, Athletics, ISSS) and finalize the drop or the withdrawal via MyUI by Friday, May 7 at 4:30 p.m. (CDT).
  • After this date and time, students will NOT be able to initiate a drop through MyUI.
  • Undergraduate students who miss the deadline to drop CLAS courses or CLAS students who miss the deadline for withdrawal of their entire registration must contact the Office of Academic Programs and Student Development to request a late drop or withdrawal.  Students with questions may be referred to clasps@uiowa.edu

Thank you for sharing this drop deadline with your undergraduate students who ask about dropping or withdrawing from the semester. Please also refer students to their academic advisor for additional help.

Thank you for your help and for your compassion for our students.
