Please encourage both faculty and staff in your unit to uphold the College's strong tradition of shared governance by participating in the nomination processes for service on CLAS and UI governance bodies. These nomination processes are the only ways that candidates can be designated. Nominations are conducted electronically on secure websites.

Online nominations will take Wednesday, February 1 through Wednesday, February 8. We value representation in shared governance and recognize the importance of diverse perspectives and voices in our CLAS leadership groups. We encourage nominations and self-nominations of faculty and staff who identify as underrepresented minorities, Black and Indigenous people of color, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, and other minoritized or marginalized categories.

In accordance with the Manual of Policy and Procedures, the following CLAS faculty member seats need to be filled in this year’s election to ensure each committee meets the established composition requirements:

The Executive Committee has three member seats to fill. One member must come from the Natural and Mathematical Sciences, and one member must come from the Social Sciences and one member will be elected At Large from any of the Electoral Voting Groups.

The Undergraduate Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee has three member seats to fill. One member must come from the Natural and Mathematical Sciences, one member must come from the Humanities, and one member must come from the Arts.

The Graduate Educational Policy Committee does not have any member seats available this year.

The Faculty Assembly has six member seats to fill. Two members must come from the Natural and Mathematical Sciences, two members must come from the Social Sciences, one member must come from the Humanities, and one member must come from the Arts.

The CLAS seat on the Graduate Council will be filled by a faculty member from the Humanities this year.

CLAS Staff members may nominate themselves and/or fellow CLAS staff members to serve on CLAS Staff Council.

Information on where faculty and staff submit nominations and cast ballots will be posted on the CLAS website and distributed via email after 8:00 AM on Wednesday, February 1, or as soon as the site is live.
