Please keep in mind these general CLAS deadlines for revising and adding courses.

CLAS DEADLINE FOR REVISING CORE ATTRIBUTES OF A COURSE
Revisions of a course’s core attributes, listed below, affect the General Catalog, MyUI Courses, the student Schedule Builder tool, the sample plans of study, and the degree audit.

Consequently, deadlines are now enforced for changes to core attributes of courses.

The final CLAS deadline for submitting changes to any core attribute of a course is five business days before the publication date of MyUI Courses for that related semester or session. These publication dates change and are set by the Registrar.

  • This year the CLAS deadline for Fall 2020 is January 24, 2020, with the course schedule published on February 3.
  • No changes to core attributes will be made after this date for Fall 2020.
  • Instead, forms will be dated for the following semester.

Courses revised by the January 24 deadline will be included in the 2020-2021 General Catalog.

CORE ATTRIBUTES

  • Course acronym
  • Administrative home
  • Course number
  • All cross-listings (addition and removal of)
  • Prerequisites
  • Changes in credit hours

Small changes may be made to other aspects of a course if not a core attribute. For example, a slight revision to a course title or the correction of a typo in a Catalog description may be made after the above deadline. In these cases, the problem should be explained in the rationale field of the form.

CLAS DEADLINE FOR ADDING A NEW COURSE

  • New courses may be added to the Course Library at any time.
  • New courses will appear in the newest edition of the General Catalog (2020-2021) if dated “as effective” no later than Spring 2021.
  • Please note that adding a course to the Library is different from scheduling the course through the Offerings Planner and that the Offerings Planner has its own deadlines.

CLAS DEADLINE FOR DROPPING A COURSE

  • CLAS courses may be dropped from the Course Library at any time as long as the course is not scheduled for the semester or session when the drop is effective.
  • Once a course is dropped from the Course Library, its number is “retired” and may not be used for a new course.
