One of the wonderful outcomes of the Obermann Humanities for the Public Good March 8 workshop is that new opportunities for humanities graduate students are popping up.

Professor Kathryn Temple of Georgetown is collaborating with the Obermann Center to identify one to two “Engaged Humanities Ambassadors” to attend the introductory course for Georgetown’s Mellon-funded Graduate Certificate in the Engaged & Public Humanities Workshop at Georgetown University in Washington, DC from June 5-8, 2019.

If you are interested, fill out the application online by Friday, April 26: https://publichumanities.georgetown.edu/.

Be sure to check the box for the fellowship application. If you receive a $1,000 Ambassador Fellowship, the Obermann Center will provide an additional $250.00 to cover registration. In return, students are asked to report back to the Obermann Center and the Humanities for the Public Good Advisory Board in the fall.

Please notify the Obermann Center that you are applying for this opportunity by pasting the following into an email to obermann-center@uiowa.edu.

  • Name and contact information
  • Degree you are pursuing, your department, and the year you anticipate graduating
  • Name of your Director of Graduate Studies and advisor (let them know you’re applying, too)
  • A copy of your narrative statement (requested as part of the online application)

Note: Although Georgetown seniors can apply, we are only offering this opportunity to MA and PHD humanities students.
