This semester, please remind students to complete the ACE teaching evaluations. If at all possible, set aside time in the middle of a class and ask students to complete the form during that time. This often will prevent students leaving early without completing an evaluation.

  • Forms open and close on the dates given below.

Please also show students where they may access the form (see ICON, the top banner, and the “Student Tools” drop-down menu). If you are using Zoom, you may keep your audio on if you wish to ensure the class is staying on task, but please turn off your video so that students have some privacy. Let students know you are not watching but are listening so you know when most students are done; students probably need around 10 minutes to complete the form.

  • A video about the importance of these evaluations made by other students will be sent to all instructors shortly. Thank you for sharing it with students.
  • Please remind students that their feedback is important and will help to improve the course in future semesters.

Important ACE evaluation dates for regularly scheduled semester-length courses:

  • Evaluations open Sunday, 12:00 a.m., April 25, with an email notifying both students and instructors that evaluations are open.
  • On Thursday, April 29 and Thursday, May 6  an email reminder will be sent to students at 12:00 a.m.
  • Evaluations close on Saturday, May 8 at 11:59 p.m., with an email update sent to students and instructors.
  • Evaluations are returned to instructors on May 23 at 12:00 a.m., with an email sent to instructors.
  • This information is also available for regular semester-length courses and for off-cycle courses here: https://ace.uiowa.edu/sites/ace.uiowa.edu/files/2021-01/Spring%202021%20ACE%20Dates.pdf.

Additional information:

  • The new ACE questions are below and were created by the ACE Task Force to limit bias; questions are few in number to encourage completion.
  • Questions may not be added or revised by departments or colleges; however, GE and collegiate questions will be added by CLAS in the future by working with the General Education Curriculum Committee (GECC), the Undergraduate Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee (UEPCC), and others such as the DUS and DEOs. We appreciate your patience as we complete this project.
