A team of staff members at the Pomerantz Career Center has put together a “Grab and Go Content” site on ICON, available to all UI faculty and adjunct instructors who would like to incorporate career education-related content into their existing or newly transitioned online courses.

This content is available to be copied into any ICON course site and ranges from PowerPoint and video lectures to reading materials and assignments that aim to prepare students for all stages of career development. Step-by-step instructions are available on the site to assist in the process of importing the content into your own ICON course.

A preview of ICON content topics available:

  • Using Handshake (for accessing job and internship postings)
  • Career exploration including walking through YouScience assessment results, goal setting, and informational interviewing
  • Creating resumes and cover letters, including online reviews of documents
  • LinkedIn and networking
  • Job search strategies
  • Interview preparation and mock interviewing
  • Graduate school and gap year preparation

Faculty members who wish to use any materials in their course should request access via this quick Qualtrics form: https://uiowa.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d6vFos1jljlcwgR. Once added to the site, you will receive a welcome email from Sarah Kiburz, who will be managing all faculty requests. If you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah at sarah-kiburz@uiowa.edu.

In addition to this ICON site intended for course use, additional content has been added to careers.uiowa.edu regarding virtual career services, including advising appointments and finding virtual work opportunities. These resources will be updated as materials become available.
