Hao Zhou is an independent filmmaker and photographer from Chongqing, China. His creative experiences include making a feature film and several shorts, writing for Douban.com, and taking part in residencies such as Cannes’ Résidence, Talents Tokyo, and Xining FIRST. Hao’s work has received awards and nominations at international festivals including the Berlinale, Hong Kong, Black Movie (Geneva), Nara, Dong Film Fest, Queer Lisboa, and others.
Across mediums, Hao focuses on narratives with experimental, playful tendencies. Thanks to support from the Iowa Arts Fellowship, Hao joined the University of Iowa’s MFA program in Film & Video Production in 2019.
