Undergraduate Program

Students in classroom.

Welcome to the Anthropology Department! We're excited that you are considering or have chosen anthropology as your undergraduate major—a field that both prepares you for a wide range of professional careers and (we hope) inspires you to do some creative independent work. To learn more about anthropology outside of the classroom, we encourage you to become active in the undergraduate Anthropology Club and to attend the department’s programs in career planning.

You can find the Anthropology Club on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr!  We are always accepting new members!  If you have any questions feel free to email us at UIAnthro@gmail.com

The Anthropology Department offers both B.A. and B.S. degrees in anthropology, as well as an anthropology minor. The department offers five specialized tracks within the major—anthropology for the health professions, culture and heritage management, environmental anthropology, gender and culture, and medical anthropology—for students wishing a greater focus within the major.
