Cassie received a B.A. in political science and Spanish from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law. Her major fields are American and Comparative Politics, with a minor in Methodology. She is specifically interested in women and politics, state legislative politics, and Constitutional Law.
