Lecturer, Department of Political Science, University of Iowa

The Department of Political Science at the University of Iowa seeks applicants for appointment at the rank of Lecturer (full-time, non-tenure track). The position is a 3-year, renewable appointment. The teaching load is three courses per semester and will consist of a mix of online and onsite course offerings. Additional teaching opportunities may be available during Summer and Saturday/Evening sessions. The position is based at the John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center in Des Moines, Iowa: http://www.continuetolearn.uiowa.edu/jmpec/index.html. While the majority of teaching responsibilities will be in Des Moines, the person will also teach one course per year in Iowa City. The person will be an integral part of the Department's efforts to expand our online and Des Moines presences through teaching, administrative and advising activities. The person will also assist in developing an internship program. A PhD in Political Science is required. Prior teaching experience, especially online, is desired. The ability to teach courses in public policy or public administration, in addition to teaching across the subfields, is required. Salary is commensurate with experience. The position will begin in August 2012; the appointment requires that a PhD be received by August 1, 2012.
