University of Iowa alumnus and photojournalist David Guttenfelder is featured in an ad campaign by the website-building company Squarespace, to debut during the Academy Awards television broadcast on Sunday, February 28. Guttenfelder earned a BA degree from the UI in 1993 in journalism and anthropology, and was a photographer for the UI's Daily Iowan newspaper for three years as a student.

The cinematic, 30-second-long ad traces Guttenfelder's career from his childhood in Iowa to photographing wars embedded with combat troops. A longer version of the ad is above.

Guttenfelder's work has been featured in publications around the world. He is a National Geographic Society Fellow, and among many other awards, won the 2016 World Press Photo Award for a long-term project about North Korea. View his website here.
