Person leaning in close to look at a printPrintmaking at Iowa will be a featured exhibition in the UI Mobile Museum. Graduate students from the Print Area of the School of Art & Art History will travel with the Museum teaching Iowans about printmaking and its history, as well as its historical significance at the University of Iowa.

For nearly 50 years, the printmaking program has ranked among the best in the country; it currently is ranked #3 in the nation among similar programs in public universities by U.S. News & World Report. From class discussions of the history of printmaking to instruction in the making of prints, the program emphasizes teaching students about significant historical print concepts and helping them discover new ways of adding to the printmaking tradition. Students also learn about artistic self-analysis through group and individual critiques. Actual masterworks on paper are accessible through a comprehensive museum collection of prints including all techniques and all periods of art history.

The project to develop the printmaking exhibition on the UI Mobile Museum is spearheaded by Professor Anita Jung, with help from students Allison Rosh, Gonzalo Gomez, and Patrick Casey.
