Tuesday, March 29, 2016 - 7:30pm to 8:30pm
Professor Williams will provide a brief historical overview of feminism and the arts for the past 75 years. She will show how the feminist art movement overlaps and was deeply influenced by the social movements of women's liberation, gay liberation, civil rights, the anti-war movement, and black power. She will highlight the work of contemporary feminist artists whose practices are influenced by themes related to social justice, queer theory, reproductive health, ecology, and immigration.
