Amy Kopale - Ecosystem Field Studies Class (EcoFS)

It was fantastic. A lot of field research I did in Colorado during the course was directly related to things I had learned in the classroom back at Iowa. Every day was something interesting and challenging - plant ecology, alpine environments, hydrology, etc. The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and helpful. I learned so much on the course and highly recommend it to anyone interested. It's a great way to get some hands on field research experience and to learn more about the world. The location is stunning, too. I'm happy to talk to anyone considering applying! Please let me know if you would like to know anything else.

I am really enjoying my studies in Glasgow at Strathclyde, too. Unfortunately they do not have a geography program so I am taking some gen eds and political science classes to finish off my minor. School itself is much different here; you spend only a few hours a week in class but a lot of time reading and reasserting outside the classroom. The city is beautiful and easy to navigate and the famed Scottish highlands and lochs are only a short bus ride away. Strathclyde is very welcoming and it's easy to get involved in clubs and sports. I play with the club water polo team here and have met a lot of wonderful people through that. It's been great so far. I hope to see a lot more of Glasgow, Scotland, and Europe these next few months.
