The Master of Fine Arts in Spanish Creative Writing will allow graduate students to develop their talent as writers in Spanish while working with established writers from the Spanish-speaking world.
Forty eight (48) semester hours (4 courses per semester); participation in several Outreach workshops in the community, public reading during the spring semester of the second year and a thesis are needed for graduation.
All courses taken toward the 48 s.h. requirement must be taken on a graded basis as a graduate student; no graduate credit is awarded for a grade lower than C-. To remain in good standing in the Graduate College, M.F.A students must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 2.50.

At least four (4) courses (12 s.h.) of any graduate course in Literature Studies or Literary Theory at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
A limit of four (4) courses (12 s.h.) from a related extra departmental unit such as Center for the Book, MFA in Literary Translation, IWP and WW at graduate level.
