Dr. Cargill featured in new Netflix documentary

For more than two decades, Robert Cargill, Roger A. Hornsby Associate Professor in the Classics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been sharing his expertise in religion and archaeology through documentaries and television shows. Most recently, Cargill appeared in “Mysteries of the Faith” on Netflix, which focuses on the stories behind Catholic relics.

Dr. Peter Miller presents "Combating Demons for Fun and Profit"

In a world where illness, disaster, and misbehavior could be attributed to demonic interference, what relief or protection could be found? How did ancient people seek to protect their minds, bodies, and souls from foul spirits and dark powers? In this presentation, Dr. Miller aims to introduce the complex, often contradictory, world of demons in the Late Antique Mediterranean through a collection of stories to explore the methods, reasons, and training behind demon combat.
