Kathleen Edwards is engaged with ideas that are imbedded in individual works of art. Her recent writing has explored how melodrama functions in certain photographs. She is currently reinstalling the Western art galleries at the UIMA, which will trace the changing concept of subject in the collections from 1900 to the present. She is also writing an essay on women as subject in mid-20th century American prints from a private collection that will be on view at UIMA in April 2006. Future projects include an exhibition on Op Art; and research on artist and critic Lil Picard.
